Hey friends! I’m Alyssa, Heather’s editorial assistant, and I’m so excited to be here to share my experience with Whole30 and my doable meal plan to follow this week or every week during Whole30. Funny enough, I started following Heather and found her because of the Whole30 in January 2017! I had never heard of Whole30 and was intrigued by the diet and the challenge of cutting out foods and training myself to eat whole foods for 30 days. Plus I love a good challenge and I like to achieve a goal so this was right up my alley!

Every time I ate something, I counted the calories in my head and thought “if I eat it, I need to do (exercise) to burn it off”. I was constantly feeling guilty about eating, no matter what I ate. In my mind, food = fat.
I never do anything halfway, so when I started Whole30, I jumped right into it and read every article, book, Pinterest I could get my hands on. The basic principles of the diet? The food is good. Food nourishes. eat real food Whole30 helped me realize how sneaky brands are by adding sugar and other bad ingredients to everyday items in our pantries. Whole30 challenged me to find and cook new recipes. Much. When we first did the Whole30, my husband and I spent hours together in the kitchen for the first time – after 3+ years of marriage! Thanks to Whole30, our recipe repertoire is now much bigger and healthier! But most importantly, I overcame my corrupt view of food. I was able to eat for the first time in a long time
